Choice and preference analysis for quality improvement
and seminar on experimentation

University of Bari, University Hall and Palazzo delle Poste
9-10 July 2015

The conference is aimed at promoting applications and techniques for valuing statistics as a method for the improvement of sciences and the enhancement of economy and society at large. The programme will consist of a round table on 9 July and of a scientific programme of invited and contributed papers on 10 July. The scientific session is devoted to highlight the chances given by technology and statistics for improving the quality of services and goods and, in general, for improving the quality of citizens. Official languages for presentation of papers will be Italian and English.

The conference will be hosted by the University of Bari in its magnificent Lecture Hall (Aula Magna). The parallel sessions will be hosted also in the Salone degli Affreschi (same building as the Aula Magna) and in the close Palazzo delle Poste.

This conference will continue a scientific meeting organized by IES . Innovation & Society of the SIS . Italian Statistical Society. The IES meeting will be held on 8 and 9 July in the same location and with purposes analogous to those of our conference. The IES meeting is titled .Statistical methods for the evaluation of services.. Detailed information on this meeting can be found at: http://gestione.unitelma.it/svqs/.

On the evening of 9 July a social dinner will be organised.

The conference organizers will allow publishing, after refereeing, full texts of the invited papers and of a selection of the contributed papers on some selected journals.

Round table

The Conference/Seminar is aimed at promoting applications and new techniques for valuing statistics as a method for the improvement of sciences and the enhancement of life quality and economy. In particular, the last day of the conference is devoted to highlight the chances given by technology and statistics for improving the quality of informative data for decision making.

Formative credits (CFPs) will be attributed to the members of the Associations of Engineers attending the Conference/Seminar. The Association of Engineers stated that attending the Conference/Seminar activities of July 9 is worth 3 credits and that of July 10 is worth 3 more credits.

Official languages of the Conference/Seminar will be Italian and English. A good practice would be to write the PowerPoint transparencies in English so that non-Italian participants can follow all presentations.

Bari and Puglia

The city of Bari stands ashore with its white limestone castle and the Basilica of Saint Nicholas, built in the heart of the historical town as a giant shrine sheltering the relics of the Saint. The territory of Bari is bejeweled by UNESCO world heritage Trulli in Alberobello and several medieval cities overlooking the beautiful southern Adriatic coast. Visiting Puglia allows spending beautiful and relaxing vacations at close touch with inspiring history from Gargano and Daunia down to Salento. Almost 50 Km away is the fascinating town of Matera with the renown extensive cave-dwelling districts, the 'sassi', UNESCO world heritage and *2019 European Capital of Culture city*.
